Money.
That's what drives everyone in the final
analysis, whether in the glamour world of
acting or the hard grind of scripting and
producing. Cashin' In sits down with TV
celebs to know well they handle their financial
matters, and tracks their spending patterns.
He
is playing a person who has lost his memory
in Ek Safar Aisa...Kabhi Socha Na Tha.
But during casual conversations, Maninder,
the lead actor of the show, is full of quips
and wisecracks. Even a serious topic like
money cannot be entirely without its share
of quips. Read on to find out Maninder's
money fundas.
How important is money for you?
Money is very very important. It’s a major
part of life. Other things in life start
looking better when you have money.
What is your attitude towards money?
Money is something that keeps one going.
Attitude-wise, I would think of money as
an important thing for security. It’s something
that I am earning to keep my people comfortable
and their futures secure.
Who handles your expenses?
Myself. I have been managing my expenses
on my own.
Are you an impulsive shopper?
I am a moody shopper. If I like something,
I buy it. It’s not as though I have to shop
once a month. It might happen that when
I go out and if I am in the mood, I buy
whatever I like. Conversely, it might happen
that I don’t shop for months.
What is your most expensive purchase?
I have not yet bought my most expensive
purchase! I am waiting for the money to
come.
What are the investments you have made?
Like I said, I am waiting for the money
to come. But if I assume that I had the
money, then I would invest in property.
I have no idea about shares and so would
really stay away from them.
How much money do you carry every day?
Enough to pay auto fare. I am not disclosing
the exact amount; what if you are actually
from the income tax department?
What was your first salary? What did
you do with it?
My first salary was Rs. 3000 which I earned
as an assistant director. I distributed
about 2000 bucks as gifts to all my sisters
and aunts. I was left with 1000 bucks, and
although I don’t remember exactly what I
did, I do remember I spent it on myself.
What is your advice for investors?
Property investments seem the best in these
times of recession. They were very high
a few months ago, but are expected to go
down by another 20-30 percent. So, property
seems like a good place to put your money.
