It’s been barely three months
since it launched and Zee TV is all set to axe Shakuntalam Telefilms’ Maa
. The show stars Amarr
Upadhyay , Vineet
Raina and Chitrapamaa and airs at 7:00 PM. According to sources it
is the low TRPs that led to the premature death of the show. The show will be
aired last on 17 April. Vineet
Raina confirms the news but denies that the show’s fate has anything to do with
the TRPs. The actor says, “We were informed by the producer that the show is ending
on 17th April. It was shocking to hear the news as we are doing a decent job considering
the time slot it is airing in. The show has been quite consistent in its performance
and hence I don’t think TRPs can be a reason for the show’s pull off.”
For his numerous fans on Tellychakkar, Vineet says, “Don’t be depressed
as I would come back with a bang. I tried to do something different this time
with Maa. I wanted to test myself by playing a bad guy. And I think with
the amount of appreciation I have received from my fans on Tellychakkar,
I am made to think that I have done a decent job. I will again take up something
new and different this time.” We tried contacting Ajay Bhalwankar,
Programming Head Zee, but he remained unavailable. Incidentally,
this is the second Shakuntalam Telefilms show after Santaan
that will be pulled off in a time span of two months. And if rumours are to be
believed then the production house’s other show Bandhan
Saat Janmon Ka
with Colosceum
Media that airs on Colors may soon bite the dust. Shyamasis
Bhattacharya, co-producer of Shakuntalam Telefilms too remained unavailable.
