The
phenomenal success of Balika Vadhu
has cast a shadow over rival shows airing
at the same time slot. The one to be hit
the most is Zee TV’s Banoo Main Teri
Dulhann whose ratings have come crashing
down. Despite their best efforts, Dulhann
hasn’t been able to recapture its lost glory.
News has it that the show is soon going
to wind up in March. But TRPs alone aren't
responsible for the show’s demise.
Informs
a source, “The show isn’t doing well plus
the cast and crew is making things difficult
for all. Everybody is working here for themselves
without having any consideration for the
channel or the production house.”
Kamya
Punjabi who plays Sindoora
in Dulhann says, “Even I have
been hearing these rumours for sometime
now but haven’t got any confirmation from
the channel or the production house. It
would be fine even if Dulhann ends.
Atleast it will not become one of those
saas-bahu sagas.”
While Sharad Malhotra wasn’t available,
a source close to the actor told us that
he is in a 'state of shock' since hearing
this news.
However, Sharad’s co-actress Anisha
Kapoor chose to remain optimistic.
She says, “I too have heard that the show
might wrap up by the end of March. But on
the other hand, I am also hearing that the
show has got an extension for another six
months.”
Producer Shyam Bhattacharya and Zee programming
head Ajay Bhalwankar remained unavailable
for comment.
Swastik Pictures’ Agle janam mohe bitiya
hi kijo is tipped to replace Dulhann
from 16 March. When contacted producer Siddharth
Tewary said, “We haven’t been given the
date or the time slot but we’ve started
shooting for the show and expect it to go
on air soon.”
