A few days back, we broke the news of Asmit Kaushik being replaced as the lead of Shubh Kadam (earlier Kaisi Laagi Lagan). The reason for it was Asmit’s boyish looks which made him look younger than his on-screen wife Pratha (Mahi Vij). Well, it now seems that there’s more to it than meets the eye.

When contacted, an irate Mahi said, “I don’t want to talk about it. We have a new lead (Prateek Shukla) and he’s doing a good job. Beyond this, I have nothing to say.”

While Mahi chose to seal her lips, a source close to the actress revealed the truth.

“Apparently, Mahi Vij isn’t too pleased with it. After all, no girl will like being referred to as old. The real reason for Asmit’s ouster is his poor performance. One day, he gave as many as 50 retakes. This upset other actors and once Mahi even threatened to walk out of the show. It was increasingly difficult for other actors to work with Asmit,” says our source.

Asmit though has rubbished these charges. He says, “50 retakes! That’s bit of exaggeration. If that true than I’m in the wrong profession or the wrong role. In television, one never does more than 6-7 retakes. There’s simply no time for more retakes. Besides, I never had any problem with any of my co-stars. I had a word with the channel and they too felt that I was replaced because I looked younger than my co-actor. Also, I had a good time working with my directors.”
