Panaah: one more female infanticide show

Saas-bahu sagas may be over but social ills like child marriage and women infanticide have great scripts for TV producers. Colors show on female infanticide, Naa aana is des Laado goes on air from today and a week later viewers will get to see another show on the same line.

Nikhil Arya

Babloo Pachisia’s Panama Entertainment Lt is producing a show Panaah for Doordarshan which coincidently also deals with female infanticide. Panaah is weekly show that launches on Tuesday, 17 March at 9.30 pm. The show stars Nikhil Arya and Sadhika Randhawa.

Tellychakkar spoke with lead actor of Panaah, Nikhil Arya on how similar Panaah is to Naa Aana

Nikhil explains, “Panaah is more serious while I think that Laado will be very soapy. We came up with the concept a good year back. The pilot was approved during that time.”

Continuing he adds, “Firstly, Panaah is based in Mumbai and not in any rural area. Besides, abandoning the girl child is just 20 per cent part of our show. We will focus on abortions and illegal sonography too. Thus there just won’t be killing of girls but boys too. The basic plot revolves around a hospital, where I’m one of the doctors. My character is called Dr. Vishal Chandra. Here’s a doctor who starts of as very much a positive character but in course of time his ambitions reveal his gray shades,” said Nikhil.

We have no clue which was conceived first but all we can say is that this may not be the last one. Many more may jump on the female infanticide bandwagon.
