I will eat whatever my spouse orders – Sharad Kelkar

Sharad Kelkar is a hardcore non-vegetarian and every meal of his consists of atleast one non-veg dish. The actor who is fitness conscious stays fit by hitting the gym regularly.

Read on as Sharad shares his diet mantra, exercise regime and also reveals his favourite recipe.

Personal fitness mantra: I don’t follow any particular pattern, I just try to eat on time and have small amounts of food at short intervals.

Personal diet mantra: After sunset I avoid consuming food which contains carbohydrates I only prefer eating fruits and a piece of chicken. I also avoid sweets in the evening.

Exercise routine: I work on my body for 3 days and on other 3 days I do cycling and I workout for the recovery of my knee.

Is food the elixir of life? No, it is not that I eat to live and don’t live to eat. But in a week I give myself one day and on that day I binge on everything.

Are you a foodie? No, earlier I was but now I have limited myself to eating only selective things.

Are you a veg or non-veg? I am a strict non-vegetarian.

Favourite cuisine: Indian and Mexican

Favourite dish: Minced mutton kebab.

Favourite restaurant: I mostly prefer to eat at home but at times when I go out its to Mainland China or Urban Tadka.

A must at my breakfast table… Fried eggs with toast sandwich and a mango.

Sugar or sugar free for my tea/coffee: Sugar free tea.

Lunch generally consists of… rice, rotis, sabzi, salad, a piece of chicken and dal.

For high tea I have… fresh fruits

Dinner generally consists of…grilled fish or chicken.

Dessert delights… malai ice-cream

One thing I can’t resist.. mangoes and lychee

My favourtie drink (non-alcoholic)… fresh lime water

My favourite drink (alcoholic)… red wine

For a date I usually prefer… I am not fussy about food I will eat whatever my spouse orders.

At parties, I usually eat… only starters and hold a glass of wine in my hand so that no one will ask me to eat the main course.

Experiment with food? I cooked mutton with mint leaves and my wife loved it.

Most unusual dish I’ve tasted… Sushi and it was bad.

On the streets, I love to have.. I like to eat vada pav near Mithibai college and egg pulao near Cooper hospital.

One place I would never eat again… all the places are good as long as I can fill my stomach. I don’t want to criticise any restaurant.

Do you cook? Yes, I love cooking.

A recipe that you can share with us.. Fried fish
