Dance India Dance Super Moms winner Mithu Chakraborty shares her experience with Tellychakkar.com

Mithu Chakraborty
The world seemed to have stopped moving for 34 year old Mithu Chakraborty when her name was announced as the first winner of the Dance India Dance Super Moms dance contest. The housewife from Kolkata, had never in her wildest dreams, imagined to reach this stage. Talking to Tellychakkar.com, Mithu expresses her excitement and gratitude as she lets her achievement sink in her. “This is one of the best moments of my life. Who would have ever imagined that a normal housewife like me would actually go on to win a national dance show of this high stature. I am really thrilled and excited about this win,” says an ecstatic Mithu. On the win, which came along with an accident as her son fractured his leg, the loving mother avers, “This sudden complication is taking over more attention as before anything, I am a mother and know my priorities well. My family has been so supportive all along and it is for them alone that today I am standing here.” Going further, she adds, “It is only on my husband’s insistence that I participated in the show. He was a constant support, and all these times when I was not at home, he took care of all my duties like a true partner.” Talking of her journey in the show, the woman who lost 12 kgs, quips, “There were so many better dancers than me that I hardly thought I will come this far. I was sure that Phulwa will take the crown, but I am so glad that someone, as ordinary as me, could clinch the title.” “I really got to learn a lot from the contestants and my skipper Siddesh (Pai). The judges too were very supportive. Marzi Pestonji was very sweet and encouraging while Farah Khan was an honest judge. I really got to improve a lot from their suggestions,” she observes. As she chirped happily with the mention of Mithun Chakraborty, Mithu’s affinity towards the grandmaster was evident. “He is the best and is also very encouraging. He will honestly tell your flaws but at the same time will also push you to improve in your next performance. I used to always jocularly tell him since ‘Mithu’ and ‘Mithun’ sound so similar, I would always be with him till the end. And now it seems my words were turned into reality by God,” informs the lady from Kolkata. The woman, who runs a small dance school back in her city, now wants to expand and help train more housewives in fulfilling their dreams in the art of dancing. “I feel the audience voted for me because they could relate to my simple life and the change this stage can bring for me. I would really want more women to come forward and achieve their aspirations. At this age, gaining anything matters a lot and I am thankful to the viewers for voting for me,” Mithu observes. Mithu, who was also awarded Rupees 10 lakhs as prize money, wants to give out some money as charity and the rest she would love to use it for her dance school. “I also plan to take up professional training now especially in western dance forms. But before anything, I want to eat everything I loved, that I could not in these last four months,” she laughingly puts it. Well Mithu, your journey indeed is an inspiration to millions of housewives who have little dreams nurturing beneath their household responsibilities.
