MUMBAI : Many Hollywood celebrities have trademarked their names. You can splurge on their apparel and beauty products, but you will be slapped with a lawsuit if you use their name for any profit-making business. Have a look at a few such personalities.

Beyoncé and hubby Jay-Z have built a music empire over the decades and plan on keeping it secure by trademarking their names. While the power-couple was late to the party, they made sure to file trademarks for their children's names - Rumi Carter, Sir Carter, and Blue Ivy Carter. Queen Bey has trademark registrations on 'Beyoncé', 'Sasha Fierce', 'Yonce', and 'Beyhive', among others.

​Dua Lipa

Singer Dua Lipa made headlines early this year when it was revealed that she applied to have her name trademarked across the globe. The ‘New Rules’ singer reportedly filed the paperwork to register her name as a brand, opening up possibilities to release items including clothes, cosmetics, jewellery, merchandise, and more.

You can cry over Adele songs all you want and seek inspiration from it, but you can’t name your business or product after her for sure. When it comes to trademarks, Taylor Swift has not only got her name registered but event initials, stylized fonts, album names, and even lyrics from her songs like ‘This sick beat’ and ‘Nice to meet you. Where you been?’

​Meryl Streep

Meryl Streep may just be this three-time Academy Award-winning actress’ stage name, but she got it trademarked. The actress filed the papers so that the name Meryl Streep couldn’t be misused for entertainment services, movie appearances, autographs, and other engagements. For those who didn’t know, her real name is Mary Louise Streep.
