Netflix Leads the 2020 Oscars with 24 Nominations!

MUMBAI: With 24 nominations across eight titles, Netflix made a significant impact amongst at the 92nd Academy Awards - the most nominations at the Academy Awards for the streaming service. The Irishman and Marriage Story have been nominated in the category of coveted Best Picture. The Irishman director, Martin Scorsese, becomes the most nominated director alive with his ninth Best Director nomination this year. The 17 categories in which Netflix titles have been nominated include those for an Actor in a Leading Role, Actress in a Leading Role, Adapted Screenplay, Original Screenplay, Documentary Feature and Animated Feature.

With 10 nominations for The Irishman, 6 nominations for Marriage Story, and 3 nominations for The Two Popes, Netflix leads this year’s Academy Award nominations.

Speaking on the nominations, Scorcese (Nominee - Best Directing, Best Picture) said, “I’m honored that our work on The Irishman has been honored by the Academy with these nominations. We put all of ourselves into this picture, a true labor of love, and to be recognized in this way means a great deal to all of us.”
