MUMBAI: Based on the life of scientist Marie Curie, ‘Radioactive’, starring British actress Rosamund Pike, will start streaming on Prime Video US from 24th July.

Centring on the life and experiences of Marie Curie, who won the Nobel Prize twice in her lifetime for Physics in 1903 and in Chemistry in 1911, ‘Radioactive’ is based on Curie’s experiments with Radium, a mysterious element of nature that was undiscovered to man back in the late-19th century.

Apart from her scientific progress and journey of discovering radioactivity, the film also sheds ample light on her struggle against gender norms of the society, battling community illiteracy, and the ups and downs of her personal equations with her husband Pierre Curie.

Based on Lauren Redniss’ book by the same name and produced by the makers of ‘The Theory of Everything’ and ‘Darkest Hour’, ‘Radioactive’ premiered at a film festival last year. The director of the film, Marjane Satrapi and Rosamund Pike, who plays the titular, Marie Curie in the film were both nominated for the Academy Awards.

After the September premiere, Amazon Prime Video had slated the film for an OTT release in April this year. However, the release was postponed due to COVID Pandemic and has now been finalised for a release on July 24.
