MUMBAI: We might soon be able to see Nawazuddin Siddiqui on Netflix again, as works on ‘Serious Men’, his second project with the streaming giant, is almost complete. The actor’s first stint with Netflix was the famous crime thriller series ‘Sacred Games’. Nawazuddin’s upcoming film ‘Serious Men’ is based on Manu Joseph’s debut novel of the same name.

Indicating the completion of post production work on ‘Serious Men’ the director of the film Sudhir Mishra tweeted, “Finishing Serious Men. I mean I knew this, but the impact is truly felt when the sound mixing is more or less done : Nawazuddin Siddiqui is brilliant in the film!” Sudhir Mishra, is best-known for directing films such as Chameli, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Traffic Signal, and Inkaar among others.

Feeling grateful for the opportunity, Nawazuddin wrote, “Thank You sooo much @IAmSudhirMishra Sir, I feel fortunate enough to have worked with you and the process was really wonderful.” The actor had reportedly completed the dubbing for ‘Serious Men’ from his home owing to the COVID-19 imposed lockdown.

Serious Men follows the story of Ayyan Mani, a wily dalit man living in a slum, who tricks the country into believing that his dim-witted 10-year old son is a genius. However, he eventually realises that the only one he is truly hurting with his con is his own son. The story is about a poor father navigating through his professional as well as personal life in the chaos of Mumbai. It is a story of class and gender conflict.

Serious Men is produced by Bombay Fables and Cineraas Entertainment. When the film will be available on Netflix is yet to be announced. Nawazuddin was last seen in a ZEE5 original film Ghoomketu alongside his mentor-director Anurag Kashyap.
