MUMBAI: Telly actress Sargun Mehta began acting in theatre productions of her college and realised her love for acting. Later, while studying for a Master's degree in Business Management, Mehta left it in-between to pursue her acting career. Eventually, she ventured into television roles by making her small-screen debut in 2009 with Zee TV's 12/24 Karol Bagh. After the programme ended, she shifted to Mumbai.
Not many know that as a child, Sargun and her brother auditioned for the dance reality show Boogie Woogie. However, they were both rejected.
In January 2011, Mehta featured as the lead protagonist opposite Ajay Chaudhary in Siddharth Tewary's drama series Phulwa on Colors TV, in which she played the title role. This was her breath-through performance and the household stardom she received for it was magnus. It's story was loosely based on the life of Phoolan Devi, the dacoit-turned politician.
She was also seen in Ekta Kapoor's Kya Huaa Tera Vaada and was cast as a grown-up Bulbul, who played the role of a journalist.
