MUMBAI: Kasautii Zindagii Kay is one of the most beloved Hindi TV's romantic dramas of all time and fans love to relish every bit of it despite it's various temporal adaptations. With just the mentioning of the show's title helps one and all recall Balaji Telefilms' banner, under which it was always helmed.

Set in the backdrop of Kolkata, it's storyline focussed on the evergreen love story of a Bengali guy and a Marwari girl, who could not practically unite owing to the differences in their social statuses, cultural identities and for falling prey to multiple conspiracies.

Talking about the conspiracies in both the seasons of Kasautii Zindagii Kay, the show's iconic and main vamp - Komolika's prime involvement in drifting the leads apart was inevitable. She was the driving force of all the mishaps in Prerna-Anurag's immortal love story. She was a character who could effortlessly captivate the attention of almost every on-looker by distracting them from their priorities. She was a self-obsessed narcissistic woman who always aspired to grab whatever caught her sight, by hook or crook.  Most importantly, she could not tolerate anybody for whom her existence never mattered in general.

Both Urvashi Dholakia and Hina Khan successfully portrayed this character with sheer charisma and grace, such that their alternatives can't be thought of clearly (especially when it comes to their on-screen style statements). Yes, for both seasons, Kasautii Zindagii Kay's on-screen Komolika was a complete fashionista from head to toe and fans could not have enough of either of them.

While Urvashi played former Komolika and nailed the character's existence in the world of fiction, the show's comeback season wouldn't have had that impact it bore if Hina Khan didn't play the former Komolika 2.0 (who was replaced by Aamna Sharif to play the same role later post the plastic surgery plot). Not to forget, both Urvashi and Hina had absolutely nailed the role of Komolika in their own ways and with their impeccable on-screen acting chops.

However, in terms of their on-screen appeal, Urvashi looked more melodramatic than Hina's bold and edgy Komolika.
