The quality, craftsmanship, and material ensure that luxury watches last decades or more, with only minor tune-ups being necessary every once in a while. They likely include features like water-resistance for sports watches or aeronautical gauges for aviation watches.

Some may argue that with a clock on every smartphone and mini computers on many wrists, no one needs a mechanical watch! But needs are different from wants.
