One of Bollywood’s most eligible bachelors, Karan Johar, turns a year older today. The dishy director who has given us many amazing weekends, thanks to his super entertaining movies, is a treat both on and behind the camera.

Somehow, his ‘formulas’ and storyline manage to touch a chord with the audiences. He sure knows how to entertain the masses. As he gets better with each year, much like the proverbial wine, we tell you why he is Bollywood’s finest director. Take a look:

Complete cinematic experience:

His movies are not fake, despite the overdose of glamour and gloss. Because Kjo makes movies for a certain audience, with a certain mind-set, he makes sure to give them a complete cinematic experience. From exotic locales to a free crash course on fashion, his movies cater to a movie-goer’s every whim and fancy. His movies offer a fresh take on relationships, affairs and all things contemporary, without forgetting the traditions that bind us together.

Song-dance galore:

A good director knows what makes a movie tick, it’s the songs. But Kjo knows exactly which songs to pick to make his movies a blockbuster one! All of his movies have foot-tapping music that you can play at weddings, parties and get-togethers. In fact, the songs get better with each listen and the entire family can groove to the beats like a pro! For a Bollywood fan, nothing is as important as a song-and-dance routine that’s done tastefully. Who better than the Johar boy to understand this?!

Not all gloss:

He is not ONLY about gloss and candy floss cinema. If you’ve watched Bombay Talkies, you’d know what we are talking about. Despite being pitted against the more arty and serious filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, it was Kjo’s movie that became the talking point of Bombay Talkies. His unmatched talent shone through like a brilliant star in the movie and that’s what makes him one of the coolest directors of Bollywood.

Relatable plots:

Whether it was loving our parents unconditionally, walking away from a loveless marriage or falling for our best buddy, his stories have that connect, the practical approach that make them relatable. Agreed that he makes movies for the classes with a massy presentation, but it’s his story telling that wins our hearts. Even the bold and brazen adultery theme in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna was handled aesthetically. If that doesn’t prove his mettle, wonder what does!

Here’s wishing him a very happy and jolly birthday! Pour in your love for the man in the comments section below.
