Aamir Khan, Kalki Koechlin and Rannvijay register their protest against Supreme Court's verdict criminalising homosexuality

Bollywood came out strongly and in large numbers, protesting against the shocking Supreme Court judgement which criminalised homosexuality. Superstar Aamir Khan expressed his deep disappointment at the judgment and took to Twitter to express his opinion: “I am most disappointed with this judgment. It feels very intolerant and violative of basic human rights. It's a shame.” We spoke to actress Kalki Koechlin to know what she thought about the judgment and this is what she had to say: "If we are calling ourselves a secular and democratic country this is what we are not supposed to do. We cannot be biased towards one religion or one culture and a decision like this is based on a certain bias. I think it is the job of our government to protect every individual's freedom as long as that freedom is peaceful, consensual and in the privacy of one's own home and if they are not hurting anybody else with their freedom then they should have that right to enjoy that freedom." Meanwhile youth icon and popular VJ Rannvijay too expressed hope that things would soon change. "If a person is discharging his duty well, how he wants to lead his life is up to him to decide. We can't put any fetters on him. As a young nation, we have to lead by example." With Bollywood pledging their support for gay and lesbian groups, we hope our netas will soon amend the law in the Parliament which will allow everyone to choose his or her own sexual preference without any fear or bias.
