Ananya Panday and Ishaan Khatter starrer Khaali Peeli to release on an OTT platform?

According to the latest reports, Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Panday's Khaali Peeli might release on an OTT platform. It is said that Ali Abbas Zafar wants to pursue a digital premiere for the film

MUMBAI: Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Panday starrer Khaali Peeli was announced somewhere in August last year. They even shared the first look posters of the film, leaving everyone intrigued. However, the latest development in this film states that Ali Abbas Zafar's film might now get a digital release just like other big films like Gulabo Sitabo, Shakuntala Devi, Dil Bechara, Lootcase, Raat Akeli Hai and more which were supposed to have a theatre release but due to Coronavirus pandemic, the makers of the films are now opting for digital release and well, Khaali Peeli is also eyeing for digital release.

 As per a report in Mid-Day, a source revealed that Zafar is keen that the shoot should be wrapped up at the earliest so that he can pursue a digital premiere of the film. The daily carried a statement from a source from the production team, "We have a few sequences remaining to be shot with Ishaan and Ananya. Director Maqbool Khan intends to film the portions around August 20 and is in the process of zeroing in on an indoor studio for the two-day shoot. The post-production work on the action thriller has been going on in full swing in the past few months." 

 "Khaali Peeli is a typical masala entertainer. Ali sir has initiated talks with streaming platforms for its direct-to-web release," the source further revealed. Confirming the development, Zafar said, "We will be shooting in adherence with the safety guidelines. The film is otherwise edited and ready."

Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt's Sadak 2, Akshay Kumar's Laxxmi Bomb, Ajay Devgn's Bhuj: The Pride Of India, Abhishek Bachchan's The Big Bull will be releasing on Disney+ Hotstar. On the other hand, Janhvi Kapoor's Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Sanjay Dutt's Torbaaz, Bhumi Pednekar's Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare, Bobby Deol's Class of '83, Rajkummar Rao's Ludo and more are set for Netflix release.
