Destiny has always played a role in Debina and Gurmeet’s lucky casting, both in their personal and professional lives. Gurmeet who met and fell in love with Debina when he was 17 also has had the good fortune of working with her in every project of his. Debina by some mysterious quirk of fate used to get cast in every significant project of Gurmeet. And the trend continues with his debut movie, Khamoshiyan as well where Debina yet again has a small role.

No wonder, Gurmeet considers his wife as his lucky charm. Says Gurmeet, “I have seen that Debina has been associated with me in with every project of mine. I started my career down south with a Tamil TV serial Mayavi as a villain and Debina was the heroine in the project. Then Ramayan happened. We had both auditioned for it and luckily I got selected to play Ram and Debina as Sita. Debina has been with me at every phase and stage in my life. I believe she is my lucky charm and nothing is possible without her. I sing praises of her everywhere.”

While many believe that Gurmeet and Debina fell in love on the sets of Ramayan, the same is not true. Gurmeet met Debina when he was 17 and that is when love blossomed. “People thought we met on sets and fell in love which is not true. We were infact dating before Ramayan happened and no one knew about our relation.”

Talking about their cute love story, Gurmeet says, “We both had come here to be actors. When we started dating, I told her that I would marry her only when I have a house and car of my own. And infact, I married her only after owning these two things.”

Now that’s a promise well-kept, we say.
