Disha Salian case: Cops to interrogate actor Punit Vashishtha, director Sandeep Malan, YouTuber for posting derogatory content against late celeb manager

MUMBAI: In the latest update in the Disha Salian case, the Borivli magistrate court has granted permission to the police to interrogate actor Punit Vashishtha, director Sandeep Malani and YouTuber Naman Sharma. This comes days after the Malwani police registered a defamation case against the three for allegedly sharing derogatory content on social media against late celebrity manager Disha Salian after her death on June 8.

According to a report on Mid-Day, the court granted the cops permission to grill the trio on the case. The police have reportedly summoned the three and asked them to appear for questioning in the next couple of days.

The report alleges that after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, many fake and derogatory posts were shared on social media linking his demise with manager Disha Salian. On the behest of Disha's father Satish Salian demanding action against those involved in defaming his daughter, the cops not only asked people with information on the case to come forward with information but also warned to take action against those spreading malicious rumours.

On August 13 the Malvani police reportedly recorded Satish's statement and later registered a non-cognizable offence against the three men under IPC sections.

In his statement, Punit alleged that the post he shared on social media linking Disha and Sushant’s cases was sent to him by someone else. On realising his mistake in sharing the content, he later deleted the same. “I apologise to Disha's parents for it and I have done the same on social media as well."

Meanwhile, director Sandeep claimed that he never posted anything related to Disha, but admitted sharing posts related to Sushant. Claiming all the allegations against him are ‘false and baseless’, he said he had not received any summons yet, but vouched to help the police in their investigation.
