Kangana Ranaut's Thalaivi suffers Rs 5 Crore production loss because of Coronavirus

Thalaivi starring Kangana Ranaut suffers Rs 5 Crore Production loss because of Coronavirus.

MUMBAI: Owing to coronavirus outbreak, people are locked-up in their homes. The lockdown across the nation has not only brought the lives of millions to an abrupt pause but also the production and release of new films across the globe to a standstill. Ever since the lockdown has been announced, following the safety measures, many film releases and shooting for Bollywood films and TV shows have been pushed to the undecided date. Be it Sooryavanshi or Laxmmi Bomb, or ’83, makers have decided to put their projects on hold. And just like others, Kangana Ranaut's Thalaivi will also be delayed.

But seems like delaying the shoot or push the release date is not the only concern the makers have. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the two elaborate sets of that were built to shoot Thalaivi in Hyderabad and Chennai have been standing unused over the past six weeks, leading to losses. Well, the problem doesn’t end there. Report also states if the lockdown extends to June then rain may destroy the set. It is also reported that the makers have incurred losses of Rs 5 crore, so far due to the pandemic.

Speaking about the same to Mid-day, the producer Shailesh R Singh expressed, “We need to wrap up the film before the rains hit. Since they are outdoor set-up, they will be ruined in the monsoon. Reconstructing the set will be an expensive affair.” “Our team's safety is our priority. We had paid [the studio] for March, but were unable to shoot for a single day in Hyderabad. It's uncertain when the lockdown will be lifted. Even if we get a 10-day window, we will finish shooting the outdoor portions.”
