Missy Elliott gets sued by alopecia author

Rapper Missy Elliott is facing a lawsuit from an alopecia sufferer saying that she used her image in single artwork without permission.

In an image used to promote her 2016 track Pep Rally, the hip-hop star sports a top featuring what looks like an old modelling head-shot of Jodi Pliszka, an author and activist who is totally bald due to her condition, in black and white with a green sash, reports leading publication.

Documents obtained by tmz.com show Pliszka suing Elliott and her The Goldmind Inc. record label.

Elliott has never publicly acknowledged that it is the alopecia activist featured on the shirt. In 2016, Pliszka's daughter Jess wrote a blog stating she was "ecstatic" her mum was pictured in the single cover art.

"It's an honour for my mom (to) have this extra exposure, especially by a superstar like Missy Elliott, to help promote her message of accepting differences to reduce prejudices," her post on the Odyssey website read.

She added, "Thank you to my mom, Jodi Pliszka, and Missy Elliott, for being such strong, brave, positive role models to all."

Pliszka appeared on US reality TV series American Inventor in 2006, reaching the series finals with her invention, a cooling wig or hat liner. She released a memoir, titled Bald is Beautiful: My Journey to Becoming, the following year.

Silverman urges women to speak up against 'uncomfortable' mammogram experience

Actress Sarah Silverman is urging women to speak up against uncomfortable mammogram experiences, following an incident where a doctor used his bare hands to examine her.

The Ralph Breaks the Internet star underwent a mammogram, X-ray and ultrasound on Wednesday, saying the appointment quickly went downhill because the radiologist did not put on gloves before examining her.

"He opened my gown and put gel on my breasts and smeared it around with his bare hands. Then he started talking to me about my chest X-ray... and was pontificating with my b**bs just out and covered in gel and cold and finally I said, 'Hey, can we either talk about this when I'm dressed or while your doing the ultrasound?'

"I'm not comfortable with my breasts out just shooting the s**t with you," the actress said in a statement

Silverman insists she doesn't believe the radiologist was inappropriate, but feels he should have been more sensitive.

Melissa McCarthy is becoming monster mom

Actress Melissa McCarthy says she is becoming a "monster" at her daughters' basketball games because she gets so excited.

McCarthy, who has daughters - Vivian, 11, and Georgette, eight -- spoke about it on the The Ellen DeGeneres Show, reported leading publication.

She said, "They are both really into basketball, which I love, it has taken over the house, I didn't see that one coming.

"They really like it and they both clicked in. When Georgie started, they explained guarding and she was like 'Got it!' She guarded their team, her own team, she was like 'No, no, no,' in their face.

"She made her first basket two weeks ago and... we all went crazy, my dad burst out crying, I burst out crying and there was a woman behind us going 'I don't know why I'm crying.' Something has happened, I scream and I yell like I've lost my mind."

McCarthy said she has become exactly the person she always feared she would meet.

"A constant litany of 'Get it! Take It! Get It!' Once I was like, 'She does not deserve it!' Oh my God, I'm yelling at an eight year old! I finally stop and I'm shaking, like, I've got to walk it off.

She added, "I'm so excited because I love watching girls that age become - not more aggressive, I don't mean it in a negative way - but seeing them go from 'I can take that ball' because they start off so polite, so when they start grabbing the ball, every aggressive part of me, that's like 96 per cent of my being is like 'Take it from her!'

"I'm becoming a monster."

McCarthy is nominated for an Oscar for her role in Can You Ever Forgive Me?. She quipped that her children did not let her get too excited when she got the early morning call confirming her place on the Best Actress shortlist

Dwayne Johnson tells why he's not hosting Oscars 2019

Actor Dwayne Johnson says he was approached to host the Oscars this year, but his shooting schedule of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle interfered with the plan.

In response to a fan on Twitter, the actor explained that he was the Academy's first choice to host the show this year, but due to filming commitments for his upcoming Jumanji sequel, he was unable to follow through with the gig, reports leading publication.

"Ah mahalo dude, I was their first choice to host this year, and my goal was to make it the most fun and entertaining Oscars ever. We all tried hard, but couldn't make it work since I'm shooting Jumanji. Academy and I were super bummed but maybe one day down the road," he wrote.

The Oscars will presumably rely more heavily on presenters this year as the show is without a host for the first time in 30 years. This comes after the Academy's pick - Kevin Hart - became embroiled in a controversy due to past homophobic tweets.

The 91st Academy Awards will be held on 24 February here and will air in India on Star Movies.

Nick Jonas to return for 'Jumanji' sequel

Pop singer Nick Jonas is returning to the sequel of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, reprising his role as Jefferson "Seaplane" McDonough.

The plot of the film is being kept under wraps.

Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan are also set to return and Awkwafina is in final negotiations for a significant role, reports leading publication.

Danny DeVito and Danny Glover have also joined the cast, and the four teens from the first film (Ser'Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, Alex Wolff) are also returning.

Jake Kasdan returns to direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. The yet-untitled movie will open on 13 December, a week before Star Wars: Episode IX launches.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was a sequel to the 1995 hit Jumanji, starring Robin Williams. Set in the present day, the reboot follows four high school students placed in detention together. The quartet is assigned to the school's basement and then transported into the Jumanji board game after they activate the discarded game.

Jonas, who is married to Indian actress Priyanka Chopra, just completed production on Roland Emmerich's Midway and the thriller Chaos Walking with Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland.
