MUMBAI: Nawazuddin Siddiqui is a powerhouse of talent. He has won audience’s hearts with his impeccable acting. However, he is now making headlines for wrong reasons. His divorce with Aaliya has opened a can of worms. It was some days ago when she slapped Nawaz with a legal divorce notice; however, he is yet to respond. 

Ever since then, Aaliya has not only called the actor an irresponsible husband and a father, she has also accused him of having an affair with several women among other revelations. Now, in a conversation with TOI, Aaliya revealed how she had warned Nawaz before he penned his autobiography, in which he made a streak of explosive revelations including that of his past affairs, flings and relationships and it got embroiled into a huge controversy.

Aaliya stated how Nawaz tried to be 'mahan' but it backfired him. She said, "When a person tries to be smart toh woh ulta pad jata hai (being cunning often backfires). If you are truthful then maybe the world would accept you.” 

She added, “You wrote about your girlfriend and affairs, I told him not to write about someone’s personal life and we have also fought over it but he believes that at times such things make you ‘mahan’ (great). They don’t make you ‘mahan’ but your character is revealed.”

Expressing her concern on Nawaz naming women he has had flings with, she added, “She is a girl working in the industry, how can you ruin someone’s image with whom you’ve been in a relationship? I have seen his world and have decided to stand for myself. Why should I save his respect when he doesn’t respect anyone. How long will a person suffer? It has been 10 years. What you see is not always the truth, to know him you have to spend time with him, which I have done.”

Nawazuddin and Aaliya are parents to two kids and have been staying apart since the past four-five years.
