Sanjay Dutt is certainly one lucky man. The actor will ring in the New Year in the warm precincts of his home with family for he has been granted a 14-day furlough by the jail authorities of Yerwada prison.

Sanjay who is serving a jail sentence after being convicted under the Arms Act in 2013, was granted furlough on Tuesday.

As per Indian laws, furlough is a matter of right to a prisoner and is to be granted periodically irrespective of any particular reason merely to enable him to retain family and social ties and avoid ill-effects of continuous prison life.  Furlough is treated as remission of sentence.

As of  now, Sanjay has spent a total of 118 days out of jail, either on parole or furlough. The actor's repeated parole extensions had made the Bombay High Court in February pass strictures against the jail authorities for extending Sanjay privileges not often granted to other prisoners.

With the actor now set to enjoy New Year at home, we are sure Aamir Khan too would organise a special screening of PK for Sanju baba.
