'Yamla Pagla Deewana Fir Se' gets new release date

Dharmendra's Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se, which was due to release on 15 August, will now open on 31 August.

The third instalment of the Yamla Pagla Deewana franchise also stars Sunny and Bobby Deol.

Sunny explained the shift in release date in a statement.

He said the date was moved "since 15 August has two patriotic films Gold and Satyamev Jayate which are topical for the day and on 24 August we have our family friend Anil Sharma's son being launched. He has our blessings".

"Our film is a wholesome family entertainer, hence we have decided to release our film YPD Phir Se two weeks later on 31 August," Sunny added.

The first instalment, starring Dharmendra and his two sons, was a hit. Its sequel released in 2013 but it tanked at the box office.

In an earlier interview to IANS, Dharmendra had said that Yamla Pagla Deewana 3 will be "very good".

'Satya' was life changing for Anurag Kashyap, Manoj Bajpayee

Ram Gopal Varma's Satya, which on Tuesday clocked two decades since its release, was a life-changing experience for Anurag Kashyap -- who co-wrote it with Saurabh Shukla -- and for actor Manoj Bajpayee, who played the memorable Bhiku Mhatre in it.

"20 years back my first film released. And changed my life forever. Being part of it was like going to the best film school in the world. All that I know I learned on one film and from one man. Thank you RGV," Kashyap tweeted.

Manoj wrote, "A braveheart came and changed my life and so many others with his sheer conviction. Thank you sir for your trust in us and your madness about the medium. Always grateful, RGV."

Even Apurva Asrani, who edited the intense gangster drama, was caught in nostalgia.

"Eros cinema, Bombay. The first show of my first film plays today in 1998. A young, spirited team chews its nails in anticipation. Then Bhiku Mhatre shouts to the city shoreline 'Mumbai Ka King Kaun?' and the audience erupts in ecstasy. Life will never be the same again. 20 years of Satya."

The movie is considered cult in Indian cinema, where realistic depiction of the Indian underworld was not seen often.

In a lengthy social media post, Varma had, on the eve of the movie's 20th anniversary, shared the nemesis of the project and the "actual truth" about what went behind the making of the "great film".

He wrote, "When people ask me today, if I realised Satya would become a great film, I will have to say no. That is because great films happen and no one can make them on intention.”

"The proof of that is none of us, whether it's Anurag or Manoj or me, could reach beyond Satya in the last twenty years... If we knew how to do it, why didn't we do it again?" he added.

Ranbir, Rajkumar Hirani attend 'Sanju' success party

The makers of Sanju, which is creating waves at the box-office, have hosted a grand success party of their film which was attended by the film's cast and crew.

Ranbir Kapoor, who plays the titular role of Sanjay Dutt, has had the highest opening of his career in Sanju. He kept it casual as he opted for a black tee and ripped denim in the party on a rainy Monday night.

Rajkumar Hirani's Sanju features Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Dia Mirza, Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Jim Sarbh, Boman Irani, Aditi Gautam, and Karishma Tanna in key roles.

Manisha Koirala, who plays Sanjay Dutt's mother Nargis Dutt in the film, opted for a classic white and blue combination.

Dia Mirza, who stepped into the shoes of Dutt's wife Maanayata, arrived in a glittering gold dress with husband Sahil Sangha. She was all smiles as she posed for the camera.

Karishma Tanna, who had kept mum about her character in the film, attended the bash in a stylish pink-nude coloured dress.

Arshad Warsi, who had earlier grabbed attention for his remarks on Ranbir Kapoor playing Sanjay Dutt, also posed for the shutterbugs.

Apart from them, Paresh Rawal, Rajkumar Hirani, Abhijat Joshi, singer Nakash Aziz, Papon, Sonu Nigam, Monali Thakur, Aanjjan Srivastav, Mukesh Chhabra, Sham Kaushal and Aditi Gautam attended the party.

Sanju also created 'history' by 'demolishing' the highest-single day record of Baahubali 2.

Baahubali 2 had collected Rs 46.50 crore on Day 3 (Sunday) on the other hand, Sanju surpassed it by collecting Rs 46.71 crore on Day 3 (Sunday).

Sanju brings to fore the life and times of Bollywood's controversial actor Sanjay Dutt. His bond with his father Sunil Dutt, his many romantic affairs, brushes with the underworld, addictions and his prison time among other things have all found their way in the film.

With Rs 118 crore as the first weekend collection, Sanju is now filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani's highest weekend opener, second only to PK that earned Rs 93.82 crore.

The film's current total at the box office stands at Rs 120.06 crore. Sanju had garnered a whopping Rs 46.71 crore on day 3 (Sunday) making it the biggest opening of 2018.

Sanju is also the biggest opener of Ranbir's career. Besharam (2013) made an opening collection of Rs 21.56 crore and was his best number-spinner till date.

Taapsee Pannu missing in action from Soorma Promotions? Here’s how the actress is making up for it!

Taapsee Pannu is currently shooting in Scotland for Sujoy Ghosh’s upcoming thriller, Badla, with her Pink co-star, Amitabh Bachchan. Back home though, the promotions for her soon to release Sandeep Singh biopic, Soorma, starring Diljit Dosanjh and Angad Bedi, are in full swing. Taapsee has not been able to attend the promotions due to the rescheduling of the release date, as Soorma was due for release on 25 May, and the fact that she had already committed her dates to the Badla shoot which couldn't be changed. This left Taapsee with only an option to skip the promotions of the film and only was in attendance to launch the trailer a few weeks back. Of course, being in a different country hasn’t deterred her.

The Naam Shabana actress has been on point when it comes to delivering to her work commitments. She has been promoting the film through her social media platforms whenever she can to ensure no stone is left unturned from her side. Despite her hectic schedule in the Scottish Highlands, Taapsee has been enthusiastically updating her followers on the promotional activities.

When asked about her sheer commitment to the film, the talented actress replied, “I am very attached to my films and I feel responsible for them. Promotion is also a part of the entire process of film release and I want to be there for my films in whichever way possible. Since I couldn’t be there physically present for Soorma, I am trying to do whatever possible from here in Scotland through my social media”.
