MUMBAI: Contrary to various popular beliefs, sometimes people fall out of love despite living and loving together for a long number of years. While for some it gets ugly and unpleasant, many others believe in taking an amicable and mature decision together and separating on mutual grounds.

On Tuesday, a loving couple from the showbiz - Farah Khan Ali and DJ Aqeel headed for split as they announced their separation on social media. Farah, who is the daughter of Sanjay Khan and sister of Sussane Khan, shared a picture of him with Dj Aqeel and shared an elaborate note announcing the decision.

The couple had been together for 9 years and had two kids together namely Azaan and Fizaa. In her post, Farah also mentioned that the duo was “Happily separated.”, adding that they will continue to be parents to their children but not as a couple.

While it's surely heartbreaking to see couples fall apart, there have been various other occasions when Bollywood couples went separate ways after years of marriage.

Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh were a hot topic back in the ’90s, also owning to their age gap of 13 years age gap. The couple tied the knot in 1991 and had two kids together- Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Khan. Unfortunately, things went awry for the two and the couple had a rather bitter divorce in 2004, after 13 years of wedlock.

Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora were loved for their on-screen chemistry in the music video of the song Rangilo Maro Dholna and further gave a pleasant surprise to their fans after they got married in 1998. But things shook up for the two after 18 years of togetherness as they headed for a divorce. And while fans prayed this be a hoax, worse dreams of many did come true. The couple is parents to a son named Arhan.

Actress Dia Mirza had also taken to her social media to announce separation from her writer-producer husband Sahil Sangha. The couple co-owned a production house and had wed in 2014, only to separate after 11 years of marriage.

Farhan Akhtar and Adhuna Bhabani were married to each other from 2000-2016 before filing for a divorce to end their 15 years of marriage. The couple is said to have handled the divorce most gracefully and had released a joint statement announcing their separation. The couple is parents to two daughters Shakya and Akira.
