He has always been extremely athletic. Now Vidyut Jamwal wants to use his substantial skills in the martial arts to help protect women and girls from male aggression.

Vidyut will conduct martial arts classes in cities all across the country, and yes ,only girl children and women are invited.

Says Vidyut, “We keep talking about women empowerment. The government gives them weighty rights and privileges. But these are meaningless until women can defend themselves and protect themselves from male violence.”

The Commando actor believes that women empowerment must start on a very basic level. “Women must learn to protect their space from physical aggression. Unfortunately, and I am sorry to say this, physical trainings and athletic training for girl students in our schools are pathetic. We are not really preparing our kids for the outside world.”

It is for this reason that Vidyut has decided to conduct martial-arts classes in various cities all over the country.

The endeavour has already started with Vidyut’s first martial-arts workshop in Delhi.

“From there we travel all across the country. And we are not focusing only on the metros and the larger cities. It is very important to physically empower girls in the smaller towns. We’ll be traveling to the smallest of cities where girls would be invited to train by me and my team absolutely free of cost, and that goes without saying. Then we also go into the villages.”

Vidyut’s mission would keep him away from his film assignments. Apparently Vidyut has said to no to plum assignments from Vipul Shah, Tigmanshu Dhulia and Nishikant Kamat to concentrate on his girl-empowerment scheme.

“We all want change in the way the female gender is regarded . We talk about change. But no one does anything. I think it’s time for all of us to put our words into action,” says the action man.
