Why are intellectually stimulating films only considered great, asks Arbaaz Khan

It's often seen how commercial money spinners in Bollywood often end up receiving low ratings from high brow critics. They even lag behind when it comes receiving awards and other recognition. However they have the last laugh when it comes to creating box-office record.

Of the many things that masala blockbusters are accused of, one them happens to be the common sense defying factor. And one actor notoriously famous for delivering blockbuster after blockbuster with scripts that lack common logic is Salman Khan. Be it his superhero act in Kick or stunts showcased in Bodyguard or other movies, Salman entertains audience with his own brand of acting. His brother, Arbaaz Khan who was recently present at the launch of a book about common sense, didn't take it too kindly when we asked him to explain the absence of common sense in most of Salman's movies.

Said Arbaaz, " I disagree. There are far more actors who do movies which may seem to defy common sense. There is Rajini sir. We all love him and have great respect for him, don't we? Even Govinda and David Dhawan too have done so many films like that. I don't understand why is it necessary to be logical."

Defending Salman, Arbaaz further said, "Entertainment can come from films that seem ridiculous. Somehow it is dismissed. Why are only intellectually stimulating films considered great? In awards too they will never find a place."

Arbaaz also took a dig at the critics. "Films that go to Cannes film festival are feted by critics with four stars. Only four people may watch these films. But a film that makes 100 crore is never rated highly," reasoned Arbaaz.
