Bombay Talkies and 101 Silver Screen Stars join hands to celebrate 100 Years of Indian Cinema

Bombay Talkies
Celebrations are in the air as the entire country celebrates the completion of Indian Cinema’s 100 years. It was on 3 May, 1913 that Dadasaheb Phalke’s “Raja Harishchandra” first shone on the Silver Screen. And life has not been the same for most of our countrymen. It will not be an exaggeration to say that films are in our DNA. The film fraternity too joins hands to mark this moment of celebration. And what better way can one think to give a tribute to Indian Cinema than four of the most established directors on the industry– Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap coming together to make a film - Bombay Talkies co-produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Flying Unicorn Entertainment that marks the beginning of a new era of modern cinema. Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd, recently paid a rich tribute to 100 years of Cinema with the release of its 4 DVD Gift Pack called 101 SILVER SCREEN STARS. An Audio-Visual treat of more than 12 hours, 101 SILVER SCREEN STARS features heartthrobs of several generations, right from Raj Kapoor to Ranbir Kapoor … from Nargis to Vidya Balan … and traces their life journeys in a very interesting manner. While BOMBAY TALKIES is a celebration of 100 Years of Cinema in our lives, 101 SILVER SCREEN STARS is a musical celebration of All-time Superstars, who have made a big difference to these 100 Years. And now both, BOMBAY TALKIES and 101 SILVER SCREEN STARS have come together for a common celebration. Viacom 18, the presenters of BOMBAY TALKIES will run a contest on Facebook / Twitter and will gift dvd packs of 101 SILVER SCREEN STARS to the Contest Winners as the ideal 'memorabilia' to celebrate 100 years of Cinema. Karan Johar and Zoya Akhtar were recently presented with Shemaroo’s 101 Silver Screen Stars packed with a special outer case, made to commemorate the occasion. While Karan Johar appreciated the association between BOMBAY TALKIES & 101 SILVER SCREEN STARS, saying that the underlying rationale behind both concepts was passion for Cinema, Zoya Akhtar commented that it was a classic case of perfect synergies at work.
