Rose Movies is back with a serial based in a Maharastrian household. And the reason behind why the makers chose to do so is interesting. Goldie Behl explains with a smile, "Our latest show on Colors, Thoda Hai Bas Thode Ki Zaroorat Hai, is literally a family affair! Let me tell you why. Both my sister Srishti and I are married to Maharastrians (Goldie is married to Sonali Bendre while Srishti is to cinematographer Samir Arya). This show is a tribute to our in-laws."
He adds, “Once we were at my sister-in-law’s place at Shivaji Park. I was taking a stroll in the park with her and suddenly I had this idea of making a show about a Maharastrian family which stays in that area."
But why Shivaji Park? "I don’t know whether you will agree or not, but I feel the area surrounding Shivaji Park has a lovely ambience which cannot be found anywhere else. Despite being a part of Mumbai, Shivaji Park is still very different from the rest of the city. There are no malls, no multiplexes – sometimes one feels Shivaji Park has remained untouched by modernization. The old-world charm this area has is unparalleled. The thought of putting all this in a television show came to me and I could not stop thinking about it,” he explains.
Later he had a chat with Srishti and they called up their creative team for a discussion. "That was the beginning and within a few days we conceived the entire show. This show highlights the warm relationship a mother-in-law shares with her daughter-in-law, which is rarely seen in a television serial," adds Srishti. Through this show the Behls want to show how relationships are nurtured in a Maharastrian family. The serial is about the Kulkarnis -- the mother-in-law works in a papad factory, while the daughter-in-law takes care of the entire family.
