Top Bollywood Actors of 2014

The superstar Khans of Bollywood ruled the roost again in 2014. While SRK and Salman made merry, Aamir is expected to deliver his blockbuster this Christmas. Among the young actors, Ranbir didn't have a single release while Ranveer Singh, Aditya Kapoor and others delivered duds. There were other bright sparks in the form of Randeep Hooda and Kay Kay Menon. We take a look at the actors who impressed in 2014.

Shah Rukh Khan

King Khan established his supremacy over box-office with Happy New Year once again. Despite being a multi-starrer, SRK showed who is the boss by playing the leading man with great élan. On display this time were his six packs, dance skills, patriotism, wicked sense of humour and emotional dialogue baazi. The minimal romance between SRK and Deepika disappointed fans but as SRK says, 'Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost.'

Salman Khan

The macho man soon learned his mistakes after burning his fingers with the self preachy Jai Ho. Kick represented all things cool about Salman where action, romance and  dance were mixed with a dash of Being Human at the end. Bhai's fans of course loved it.

Shahid Kapoor

Shahid reportedly waived his usual fee just to work with Vishal Bhardwaj and it was all worth it, we say. The actor thoroughly got into the skin of Hamlet's desi version and pleased both audience and critics alike with a never before seen dimension of his acting histrionics. The actor even shaved off his head and grew a beard to look the part. And all this for free...Just imagine.

Akshay Kumar

Khiladi Kumar desperately needed a hit after a few forgettable outings at the box-office including his own home production, Boss which tanked miserably at the box-office. And he has a lot to thank Vipul Shah for giving him Holiday. Akshay suited the role of an army officer to the T and the different story packed with high octance action sequences pleased audience. Sonakshi Sinha added the  glam tadka to the film.

Riteish Deshmukh

Tired of doing comedy, sex comedy and all other kinds of comedy, Riteish decided it was time to reinvent. And what better way to do so than by playing a character with grey shades. Riteish rocked Ek Villain with his psychotic villainy act and successfully managed to shed his comic image.

Randeep Hooda

Randeep is the perennial unsung hero of Bollywood. His performances are often overshadowed by the presence of other powerful luminaries in his film. Kick belonged to Salman while Alia walked away with top honours in Highway. Nevertheless, the man was noticed for his sincere performances in both these films. His other two films Rang Rasiya and Ungli failed to create any impact however Randeep drew much praise for his roles in both movies.

Abhishek Bachchan

After SRK, Abhishek Bachchan stood the most to gain from Happy New Year. Though mom Jaya found his role to be nonsensical, Abhishek's silly antics as Nandu Bhide made audience roll down the aisle with laughter thereby giving a much needed boost to his career.

Govinda

He is the comeback kid. After spending seven years in wilderness, Govinda finally made his presence felt in Bollywood in a new avatar. Kill Dil saw him play a ruthless gangster while Happy Ending showcased his infamous comic streaks though not in its full glory yet.

Arjun Kapoor

Arjun Kapoor made a swashbuckling entry into the 100 crore club with college caper romcom 2 States. He and Alia Bhatt formed a formidable pair and his role as a college youngster found many takers.

Varun Dhawan

Humpty Sharma was DDLJ of the new generation and Varun and Alia the new SRK and Kajol. Varun's marvellous transformation from a chocolate boy  hero to a man who fights for the girl he loves made for an exciting watch.

Aamir Khan

We are just being futuristic here but we have strong reason to believe that Aamir Khan and Raju Hirani can never go wrong during Christmas with PK.
