Missing case papers of Salman Khan's hit-and-run case found, Trial to restart from 24 September

Salman Khan
Salman Khan's hit-and -run case which had hit a roadblock owing to key documents going missing have finally been found. With all original documents except one back in place, the trial is all set to resume from 24 September (2014). The case papers had gone missing in July following which the case was adjourned to August. However, the prosecution expressed their inability to trace the documents which drew the ire of the judge who immediately directed the police to trace the missing documents. Salman's lawyer Shrikant Shivade had then contended that the trial could not be continued without the original documents, while the prosecution objected to this plea by saying that it could proceed with true copies which were available. Finally after Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria ordered a probe the missing documents were recovered from the Bandra Police Station on 26 August. The prosecution lawyer on Friday informed the court that all the original documents but one pertaining to witness statements and case diaries "missing" since the past few months have been found. The prosecution produced 63 documents and promised the court that the lone missing document would also be traced soon. The court took on record all original documents produced before it and directed the public prosecutor to continue with the examination of witnesses from 24 September. As of now, 11 witnesses have already deposed in the case before the missing documents matter popped up. Salman in the meanwhile continued keeping mum about his legal troubles. Yesterday at the press conference of Bigg Boss when a scribe asked him about the black buck case, Colors boss Raj Nayak intervened while Salman looked the other way choosing not to respond.
