Ekta Kapoor is the true queen of Indian Television: Jyoti Rajawat, Creative Head

Jyoti Rajawat, Creative Head
The young and beautiful software engineer, Jyoti Rajawat, hailing from Indore, came to the City of Dreams Mumbai, two years back. This intelligent lady had a very promising career in software engineering, but left it to follow her passion for serials. Just a few soaps old, this lady has climbed the success ladder fast to become Creative Head at Ravi Ojha Productions. We entered into a candid chat with her. Excerpts. First, tell us about how it all happened? Well, I am from Indore and hold a degree in software engineering. I was very passionate about serials. Back in my home I used to watch serials continuously for a long stretch and I used to love watching those. Because of my love and passion for serials I left my job and started my career in the creative field in Mumbai. Which are the shows that you have worked on television? Initially, I worked as a costume designer and later on continued being with the creative department. My first show was Raavi on BIG Magic. Currently, they are broadcasting the second season of the show, I did the first season. Then I worked in Colors’ show Beintehaa (Fortune Productions) as an associate creative head. Finally, after Beintehaa I got Gustakh Dil, the show currently I am working on. How did Gustakh Dil happen to you? After doing two to three shows, I was looking for something else, and then I got the offer. I knew few people from this show and things proceeded in a positive way and I got the chance to work with Ravi Ojha Productions. Who is your role model in the industry? It has to be the television queen Ekta Kapoor. Just look at her, whatever show she makes people get hooked to it, even if it’s all about melodrama. You can even say that she forced me to be a part of this industry. While growing up, I watched only her shows and that was the time when I decided that I have to join this industry and meet her. She is truly the queen of Indian television. Apart from Ekta ma’am I would say that my boss, Kalpana Chandra (Creative Director of Gustakh Dil) is also my role model. She has given me all the freedom to work. Lot of different type of shows are coming up these days, what is your take on that? I think today’s audiences are smart enough. They accept smart, intelligent scripts. Even if any show is showcasing too much melodrama, they are aware about it and accept it only as a show, not as reality. If you ask me, if I would like to do such kind of show or not then my answer will be definitely yes. How was your experience working with Ravi Ojha Productions? Oh, it’s wonderful working with Ravi Ojha Productions. If I ever get a chance to work with this production house again, I will definitely say yes to them and will be happy about it. What are your upcoming projects? My current show, Gustakh Dil will go off air very soon and I am currently busy with that one. I have not yet decided anything on my next project. I will see what comes to my way.
