Jan 2007 will see veteran actress Aroona Irani's AK Films put forth a new serial on Sahara One for her loyal viewers. The new show is titled Doli Sajaa Ke and is directed by Pawan Sahu. The story deals with father-daughter relationship in the backdrop of a modern yet to some extent superstitious society, which regards the female protagonist as unlucky. The father-daughter relationship is highlighted as the story revolves around the death of wife and the birth of daughter. Anuj Saxena who plays Barkha Bisht's dad was never averse to the idea of playing father to a contemporary heroine, as the versatile actor puts it, "I have played father to Aashka and Rucha in Kkusum. I have no qualms in playing Barkha's father, after all it is only acting. I might be father in this serial and a young hero in another." The other starcast comprises of the main lead being played by Manoj Bidvvai along with Amit Sarin. Manoj who is all geared up to tie the knot with Raavee Gupta this weekend in Goa, has worked with Aroona earlier in Zameen se Aasman Tak on Sahara One and Tum Bin Jaaon Kahan on Zee TV. He is quite elated as he says, "Yes, it is a pleasure to work with Aroonaji." Elaborating on his character, he reveals, "It is the story of two families. I play Ved, a mamma's boy who is engaged to Barkha, but when my mother discovers that she brings bad luck, my engagement to her is broken and I marry someone else."n the relevance of the title, Manoj explains, "the heroine is supposed to be unlucky because on her birth, her mother dies and then many incidents follow to reinstate her bad luck. The title is relevant kyonki uski doli sajti hai, magar shaadi nahin hoti."
