We agree that most of the horror movies of Bollywood hardly scare us and whenever it comes to horror genre we mostly turn to Hollywood for some inspirations. But, there are few desi horror films which gives a spine-chilling effect.

1920- This period horror flick drew inspirations from American horror film The Exorcist for few horror scenes. Unlike most of the Bollywood films this one was unexpectedly scary.

Raaz- Raaz is considered to be one of the best Indian horror films. Starring Bipasha Basu and Dino Morea as a couple, the film showed how Malini Sharma possessed Bip’s body and soul to seek revenge from Dino.

Ragini MMS2- Starring Sunny Leone this film gave us goose bumps as Sunny was possessed by the ghost and turned out to be one of scariest films of the year.

Raaz 3- Esha Gupta, Bipasha Basu and Emraan Haashmi took the horror genre into a new level by dealing with not only supernatural activities but also with human psyche.

1920 Evil Returns- The film gave us enough reasons to scream loud and louder as Tia Bajpayee got possessed by an evil spirit.

Aatma- Aatma showed an obsessive father’s spirit, who came back to the world to claim his little daughter and take her away along with him in the other world.

Bhoot Returns- Dealing with evil spirits and possession over body coupled with excellent cinematography, visual and sound effects the film is worth watching.

Vastu Shastra- Directed by Ram Gopal Verma the film was about a young girl, who got obsessed with an unknown friend, visible only to her.

Ek Thi Daayan- This film churns out an interesting plot about the witchcraft and was one of its kinds. Konkona, Huma and Kalki definitely deserve thumbs up for this flick.

Horror Story- This movie revolves round few friends and their stay at a haunted hotel. The sound effects used in the film makes it a nail biting watch.
