The young guy from Ahmedabad – Ajaz Khan – is a happy and contended man these days. He has recently won the reality show Bollywood Club, which will give him an express entry into the big bad world of Bollywood. "When I heard about this reality show, I realised that it was different. There was no voting involved and famous directors of Bollywood would be present to pick and choose actors. It was like giving an audition in front of many directors in the same set! I found it to be easier than roaming around and performing for different auditions," explains Ajaz. Winning the show meant a three-film contract with top-notch directors like Jagmohan Mundra, Rahul Dholakia and Ganesh Acharya. "I have already started shooting for Rahul Dholakia's Lamha. We just finished a schedule in Kashmir and Manali. I am playing the role of a Kashmiri militant Kuka Pare in the film. All the characters in this film are real," says Ajaz. The actor's luck is really smiling because it so turned out that Ramgopal Varma was also watching an episode of the show where he saw a supremely confident Ajaz having a healthy but intense argument with guest Sudhir Mishra. "He liked my confidence and looks and has signed me up for three of his forthcoming films," says Ajaz. The shooting for these movies will start shortly. Does this mean he is bidding adieu to television? "Not at all! Specially with a role like Dushyashan, there is no way I can leave television. It is very nice of Ekta to have provided me full cooperation to complete my show on television and also build my career in films," explains Ajaz. Ajaz moved to Mumbai in 2000 for a career in modelling. "I did a number of good ads like UTI Bank, Levis Jeans and Hero Honda and even started walking the ramp. I participated in the Gladrags mega model hunt and got shortlisted for the finals, but because of some urgent business needs I had to go abroad and missed the finals," remembers Ajaz. "I always wanted to develop a career in acting, but not in television. Ironically it is my serial in television (Mahabharat) that led me to films. I had come here to prove myself as an actor. I guess I have been able to do it successfully," says the super confident Ajaz. Beyond Mahabharata and his recent victories, Ajaz is waiting with a bated breath for the release of Sangeeth Sivan's Ek. He plays the role of a militant there. He is also doing a serial called Rahe Tera Aashirvaad on Colors.
