I am not a person who can stay in a joint family: Sreejita De

Sreejita De

The vibrant Sreejita De, who became a household name with her character Mukta on Colors’ Uttaran, is back to steal our hearts.

Yes, the beautiful Bengali girl is now playing the main lead role of Shreya on  Zee TV’s upcoming show Tum Hi Ho Bandhu Sakha Tumhi.

Tellychakkar.com got chatty with him and asked about her comeback, show, role and more. Read on.

My role of Shreya is a lot similar to my real life. We both are very positive and strong-headed. After Uttaran, this show’s format was tempting and appealing. Although I had to take the decision of signing the show in the nick of time but I am glad that I took it up.”

Will your character turn negative in the coming episodes? “Not at all. Even I thought the same when I read the script. There are no negative shades. It will highlight on how a joint family can live happily. And according to me, there is nothing called negative or positive. It depends on observation and prospective.”

The show has a big star cast, do you feel your role will be overshadowed? “I haven’t thought about it. The show will begin with the love story of Bhushan (Neil Bhatt) and Shreya so the whole drama would focus on us. As an actor one should be satisfied and should know to make screen space on our own.”

In real life, you believe in joint or nuclear family? “Frankly, I don’t believe in a joint family. I think every couple needs their own space. I am not a person who can stay in a joint family.”

How did acting come your way? “Well, I never thought of becoming an actor. I always wished to become a journalist. I have also done my bachelors in mass media. My very good friend used to work for Balaji Telefilms and he asked me to come down for auditions for a small role in Kasautii Zindagii Kay. Luckily, I got through and told about it to my parents. Initially, my dad was a bit skeptical but they both are very supportive now.”

What difficulties did you face in your initial days? “Being from Kolkata, my Hindi was very weak. But the best part of TV industry is people are very welcoming and helpful.”

Lastly, your take on reality shows? “I am a trained kathak dancer and I enjoy dancing. Hence, would like to participate in dance reality shows.”

Good luck, Sreejita!
