Legendary actor Soumitra Chatterjee is playing Mayur Bahan Chatterjee in director Satrajit Sen’s upcoming Bengali film Michael.

But readers, did you know Satrajit was initially hesitant to offer him the role?

Yes, he was worried how the senior actor will react to the role.

The director shared with media recently in between shooting the premier scene at a Kolkata hall, “Mayur Bahan is a very colourful character, who enjoys the company of women. As per the story of the film, he once was a popular actor but now no one remembers him. The script of the film was written three years back. So, when I went to approach him with this colourful character of Mayur Bahan Chatterjee, I was really worried about his reaction as he has never played such a role before.”

Any guesses how Soumitra reacted?

Well, the legend’s reaction was positive.

Shared the director, “He enjoyed reading the script and told me that no has offered him such a role before so he would like to do it.”
