Aamir Khan had asked SRK to step into his shoes for Rakesh Sharma biopic, Salute

Rakesh Sharma
MUMBAI: In the past, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan’s war of words used to make headlines. However, it was Aamir Khan who had told SRK to take up Rakesh Sharma’s biopic, Salute, a movie by director Mahesh Mathai. Aamir was originally supposed to work on it.

Shah Rukh Khan obliged and stepped in, but now, there are reports doing the rounds that the film will be rechristened. Interestingly, Priyanka Chopra was on board along with Fatima Sana Shaikh for this film. However, with SRK replacing Aamir, we wonder if the casting too will be revamped.

Their fans, who are always at a war of words online, would be surprised to see how these two biggies of Bollywood are actually recommending work to one another and even taking the other’s suggestions. Aamir was also supposed to produce Gulshan Kumar’s biopic Mogul, and reports had suggested that the actor eventually had planned to even act in it.

However, when the #MeToo movement hit Bollywood, Aamir’s association with Mogul became questionable, especially because not only was director–writer Subhash Kapoor accused of sexual misconduct, but producer Bhushan Kumar was also embroiled in controversy following allegations of exploitation.

It seems that the makers have now approached Rajkumar Hirani to direct the project, although there is no confirmation about the same from either party. In fact, there’s no update if Aamir is still associated with Mogul or has quit the project.
