Dalip Tahil features in new ulysses short film - A New Day Will Be

MUMBAI: Noted film, television and theatre actor Dalip Tahil has featured in a Global short film to celebrate a unique Bloomsday. Titled ‘A New Day Will Be’ the short film uses James Joyce’s timeless words to create a contemporary take on Ulysses with performers from more than 40 locations across six continents. The performers, including Tahil, come together in the short film to chart our universal, shared humanity as we journey through these extraordinary times. The project is a collaboration of the Irish Embassies and Consulates worldwide and their network of local partners.

16 June is celebrated as Bloomsday, and is a commemoration and celebration of the life of Irish writer James Joyce.

“We are going through some very testing times. The short film is a poetic narration of all of humanity’s sentiment about this phase of our lives. From silence, isolation, the desire for human touch and the quest for a vaccine, through remembrance and resilience, to hope, love and finally affirmation, the film tries to capture the emotions of people across borders. I am happy to have been part of this project,” says Dalip Tahil.

Other than Tahil, the performers include actors Olwen Fouéré and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor; former US Democratic Presidential candidates Pete Buttigieg and Beto O’Rourke; novelist Colum McCann; leading actors from continental Europe including Yiannis Panagopoulos of the Greek National Theatre, Peter Bárnai from Budapest, Robert Roth from Bratislava, Ada Gales from Bucharest and Üllar Saaremäe from Tallinn; Aboriginal Australian artist Daniel Browning; Japanese kimono designer Satoko Baba; and performance artist Amanda Coogan.  The original score is composed and performed by Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh.
