MUMBAI: Tokyo 2020 Olympics' opening ceremony will take place on Friday, and we are cheering for team India. Recently, Akshay Kumar turned into a cheerleader for the sportsmen and sportswomen taking part in different events.

He was nominated by Union Minister for Information and Broadcast and Youth Affairs & Sports Anurag Thakur. Anurag tweeted, "ये है मेरी टीम और ये #Tokyo2020 Olympics में हमारे खिलाड़ियों को cheer करने के लिए #HumaraVictoryPunch Tag 5 friends/family members to show your support for the IndianFlag of IndiaOlympics Team! I nominate @KirenRijiju @virendersehwag @akshaykumar @NSaina @vijayshekhar #Cheer4India."

The actor responded with a video and wrote, "Thank you Anurag ji for nominating me. I’m cheering for Team India at #Tokyo2020 Olympics. Are you? In the video, he says, "Tokyo olympics mein hume apne janbaaz khilado ka hausla badhana hai. Mujhe yakeen hai humare dher sare encouragement aur dua se humare khiladi Tokyo olympics mein humare desh ka naam roshan karenge. Meri team hai aap sab Akkians"  Akshay then went on to tag all his fan pages across the country to cheer for Team India. Akshay ends the video by saying "Bharat ki jeet Bharat ke haathon mein hain."

On the professional front, the actor was last seen in horror comedy Laxmii. The film had an OTT release and also starred Kiara Advani in the lead role. He will be next seen in the spy thriller Bell Bottom.
