MUMBAI: Folk singer Sharda Sinha, a Padma Bhushan recipient, passed away on Tuesday, 5th November 2024. She was known for her Chhath Geet, and is an irreplaceable loss, says actress Rinku Ghosh who was last seen in the show Anokha Bandhan.
“Padma Bhushan Sharda Sinha ji was the most humble person I have met. She was a legend yet so down to earth. Fondly known as The Bihar Kokila. (The cuckoo of Bihar). Today we celebrate Chath Mahaparv, I will not be wrong if I say that she is the voice of Chhath Puja,” she says.
She adds, “Her Chhath Songs are famous around the world. She has turned Chath Puja Geet into Mantras. She got Bihar folk songs in Bollywood movies. In Bihar and UP, any marriage, haldi, Bidaai, or a naming ceremony of a child is incomplete without her songs. She was the pride of Bihar and our Bhojpuri film industry.
