MUMBAI: Babil Khan, son of the late legendary actor Irrfan Khan, has been steadily carving his niche in the Hindi film industry with his emotionally nuanced performances and charismatic screen presence. He made his acting debut in 2022 with Qala, where his portrayal of a conflicted musician won critical acclaim and highlighted his potential as a rising star. Known for his introspective approach and grounded persona, Babil has quickly gained attention for choosing unconventional and impactful roles early in his career.
His latest film, Logout, marks another bold step in his journey. Released on 18th April, the thriller dives into the psychological consequences of digital overexposure and explores the blurred lines between reality and the virtual world. Babil plays a complex character grappling with identity, isolation, and the need for human connection in an increasingly digital age. His performance in Logout has been praised for its intensity and vulnerability, reinforcing that Babil is a promising talent to watch in the coming years.
In an exclusive interview with Tellychakkar, Babil Khan was asked about the kind of treatment that starkids get, him being one too. It was pointed out how there are two different categories of nepo kids and asked which category does he think he falls in.
Babil Khan said, “Ek cheez hoti hai na ki aap starkid bhi ho par aap actor bhi ho. Abhi baba (Irrfan Khan) ko kaise define karoge, woh star bhi the actor bhi the, 2006 mein Natalie Portman ke saath romance kar rahe hai woh, he was different type. So to be his son, I can’t be entitled to anything. So that means there is a sense of responsibility towards the people that love him, that love the craft, that love the art, that love cinema, that sense of responsibility I feel is, is what gives me some kind of push or motivation, jo bhi bula lo.”
Wheh asked if he considers himself privileged or not, he immediately responded by saying, “Privileged toh hoon yaar bilkul. Matlab privileged uss maamle mein hoon ki I’ve had comfort in my life, sar pe humesha chhat thi, khaana tha, matlab mujhe kisi cheez ke liye waise struggle nahi karna pada jaise log Bombay mein aake itna struggle karte hai. Jaise Jaaved saab ne ek cheez boli thi jab woh train se Bombay aa rahe the, woh bohot sundar hai, main nahi bol paunga Javed sir ki baat, kyuki woh jaise bolte hai wohi bol paate hai lekin, waisa wala struggle nahi tha. Mera kuch aur struggle tha. Har bande ka alag apna khudka struggle hota hai. Aur zindagi waise aapko pehlu fekte rehti hai aap kaise usko dekhte toh aap ka nazariya kya hai, uspe depend karta hai.”
Surely the movie is getting some great responses from the audience and Babil is getting all the praise he deserves.
