MUMBAI: Nearly a week has passed since the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which tragically claimed the lives of 28 innocent civilians. The attack, claimed by The Resistance Front, a proxy of Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba – has sent shockwaves across the nation and the globe.
In the wake of this tragedy, India has adopted a tough diplomatic stance against Pakistan, with many calling for a freeze in cultural and sporting engagements between the two countries.
In an exclusive interaction with TellyChakkar, Kashish Kapoor opened up about her stance on whether artistic, sporting, and cultural ties should remain untouched amidst rising tensions. She also weighed in on the pressing question of whether war is the ultimate solution to curb cross-border terrorism and bring lasting peace.

In light of the attack, there’s growing sentiment to cut cultural and sporting ties with Pakistan. Do you believe the creative industries should be involved in this retaliation?
Art, culture and sport are indeed the soul of any society, and in an ideal world, they should remain untouched by politics and violence. However, what happened in Pahalgam has shaken the very conscience of our nation. This was not just another attack, it was an assault on our people and our values.
Under such grave circumstances, I believe we must take a stand. All cultural and sporting associations with the neighbouring country should be severed. Patriotism must take precedence above all else, even if it means putting creative exchanges on hold. Enough is enough, it's time we send a clear and united message.
Given the continued cross-border terrorism, many feel India has no choice left but war. Do you think armed conflict is the only solution now?
War should never be the first answer. There are always strategic, diplomatic, and psychological methods we can explore to convey our stance and to protect our nation’s interests. We've attempted peace in the past, taken the high road, and shown restraint despite provocation.
However, when the other side repeatedly refuses to change, when innocent lives continue to be lost how long do we stay silent? If the aggression continues, if our efforts for peace are met with violence, then perhaps war becomes the last resort. Mercy has its limits, and we must be prepared to defend our nation by every means necessary.
As investigations into the Pahalgam attack continue, there is mounting pressure on Indian authorities to not only bring the perpetrators to justice but to dismantle the infrastructure that enables such violence. The international community watches closely, united in grief, yet urging decisive action.
