MUMBAI: Films in Indian cinema thrive on ingenuity, storytelling, spectacle, and impact, something that Pooja Hegde has brought together in her years of filmography. At times when actresses still stick to portraying eye candies to create appeal, Pooja Hegde has created a fierce tangent by ditching the glam quotient and stepping into more relevant roles.
Throughout her career, Pooja has not only been a key part of mass films like Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, Beast, Mohenjo Daro, Housefull 4, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan or Radhe Shyam among others, but her knack for making bold film choices and picking unpredictable roles have placed her alongside some of the big names of the industry, including Salman Khan, Prabhas, Allu Arjun, Thalapathy Vijay, Hrithik Roshan and more.
In mass films that ride high on action, drama, intensity, and grit, Pooja Hegde's presence has brought a sense of realism, fusing relatability and authenticity to the plot. Her roles have transcended the barriers of mere romantic portrayals and have extended to being the catalyst of a progressing plot. The nature of Pooja Hegde's choice of roles has changed the erstwhile 'heroines,' and she is thoroughly defining the diversity of a 'heroine' in today's evolving cinema space.
With actresses drawing massive crowds through physical appeal, audiences are no longer eager to watch the same, instead, they are interested to watch more honesty and sincerity in performances. Previously, actresses were confined to tighter clothes and flashy frames, however, Pooja Hegde is proving that substance speaks louder than clothes and flashiness. As she continues to keep up with her graph of delivering deep performances, she's being received with a positive reception from the audiences and her admirers, who are eager to watch more substantial performances from her.
Proving to be a pan-Indian actress, Pooja Hegde is gearing up for the release of her upcoming Tamil film, Retro, slated for a release on May 1. She will star alongside Suriya in the Tamil romance-adventure film, directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Apart from this, Pooja Hegde is currently shooting for a Bollywood rom-com, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. In the David Dhawan directorial, the actress will share the screen space alongside Varun Dhawan. The film has hit the floors and is expected to have a theatrical release soon.
