MUMBAI: After redefining Hindi cinema’s action genre, Pathaan is set for a thrilling sequel—Pathaan 2—which will be partially filmed in Chile. As reported by Mid-Day, the next installment in Yash Raj Films' Spy Universe is slated to begin production next year, featuring the stunning Chilean landscapes as a key backdrop.

The collaboration gained momentum during Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font’s recent visit to India, accompanied by Minister of Culture and Arts, Carolina Arredondo. They met with Indian filmmakers to explore cross-cultural cinematic ventures. Filmmaker-actor Anshuman Jha, who attended the meeting in Mumbai, confirmed: “There are concrete conversations of Pathaan 2 by Yash Raj Films and Lakadbaggha 3 being shot in Chile next year. I hope we help His Excellency’s vision of bringing the beauty of Chile to the world through our cinema."
Serving as a pivotal installment in YRF’s growing Spy Universe, Pathaan 2 will reportedly release before the much-anticipated crossover Tiger vs Pathaan, bridging Shah Rukh Khan’s and Salman Khan’s characters. A source close to the project revealed, “Soon after the blockbuster release in January 2023, Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan began discussing a dedicated franchise for Pathaan. Adi began working on the sequel as a crucial pivot in the Spy Universe timeline."
In an exciting addition, Anil Kapoor has signed a multi-film deal with YRF to appear in multiple Spy Universe titles, beginning with War 2, followed by Alpha, and eventually Pathaan 2. With returning stars and global scale, the sequel promises adrenaline-fueled storytelling and visual spectacle.
