MUMBAI: On the occasion of International Tea Day, television actor Romiit Raaj — best known for his role as Rohit Poddar in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai — shared his heartfelt love for tea and how it remains an integral part of his daily life and cherished memories.

“I love tea and I start my day with masala tea — Brook Bond Natural… I love it,” Romiit exclaimed with enthusiasm. “We have a very different way of making tea. We add tea leaves to boiling water and milk and let it be. It’s amazing with lemongrass and cardamom.”

For Romiit, tea is more than just a beverage; it’s an emotion that evokes warmth, nostalgia, and a sense of togetherness. Recalling his fondest memory, he said, “My favorite memory will definitely be my mother at our childhood home in Kolkata, where me, mom, and my brother Rohan were having tea in the morning. Sun rays lighting up the living room, and we all were discussing and cherishing memories…”

Romiit also reflected on how tea is deeply rooted in Indian culture. “Tea is truly a part of our culture, and guests who are treated as God are offered tea when they visit home,” he shared, adding that he’s glad to see so many unique flavors emerging for tea lovers today.

When asked who he’d love to share a cup of tea with, Romiit said, “I would love to have tea with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, also known as the Iron Man of India. It would be great to hear his life experiences — it would be a life-enriching experience.”

As millions around the world raise their cups to celebrate International Tea Day, Romiit Raaj’s deep-rooted connection with tea serves as a reminder that a simple cup of chai can hold within it a world of memories, culture, and conversation.
