MUMBAI: Poonam Pandey’s mother, Vidhya Pandey, recently opened up about her daughter’s quiet generosity and the strong bond she shared with both their family and people from her village Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. While the world saw Poonam as a bold and glamorous figure, few knew about the compassion she extended to those in need—especially to children from underprivileged backgrounds. She regularly provides them with food, ensuring no child went home without a smile. Her visits bring joy, and the children eagerly await this moments.
In a heartfelt interview, Vidhya Pandey shared , “ Poonam didn’t just care for her own family—she looked after the entire village. ” Poonam added , “ Most people here earn very little from farming; it’s barely enough to survive. When I offer them some food or a little money, they genuinely smile. Many don’t have steady jobs, and life is already full of struggles. If I can do something small to make them happy, I gladly will. ” Smiling through her emotions, Vidhya ji said , “ I feel incredibly proud when people in our call me ‘Poonam Pandey’s mom. ’”
She also shared how the children from underprivileged homes—who regularly received foods from Poonam—broke down after hearing the news of her passing. “ They cried and said , ‘ Poonam Didi Chale Gayi… Ab Hume Khana Kaun Dega? ’”
This moment reflects the deep bond Poonam shared with the village children. Her kindness and presence left a lasting impact on their young hearts.
