Alia Bhatt considers working with South Indian actress- director Revathi as one of the biggest high points of her career. Not just because she grew as an actor in the company of Revathi but also because they developed a deep bond akin to that of a real mother and daughter while filming 2 States. Revathi, who in fact plays Alia’s onscreen mother in the movie, really pampered and mothered Alia so much that the young actress felt that the senior actress was like her real mother. Disclosing the same to Tellychakkar.com in an interview, Alia said, “Towards the end of the film, I ended up making a mother-daughter relationship with Revathi maam. The way she would hold my head, touch my face, I used to get and feel that motherly warmth with her. What I also realised is that being with an actor like her only made me a better actor.” Praising Revathi and her powerhouse of natural acting talent, Alia said, “ What she brings to the table is not just dialogues but much more than that. There were many scenes were there were no dialogues but just emotional eye contact between us. And I got emotional too because I could see her as my mom. And having her play my on-screen mom was like the icing on the cake. She also helped me with Tamil and its correct diction.” Well, if the trailers are anything to go by, Alia and Revathi do make for crackling mother-daughter pair. 2 States releases this Friday (18 April 2014).
