MUMBAI: Turns out that Imlie is an illegitimate child of her mother, on the note of which her grandmother keeps cussing and torturing both Imlie and her mother.

Imlie's mother fell in love with a city man, who had left her after she conceived Imli in her womb.

Imlie is determined to never get married before completing her education and get herself a respectable job in the city to prosper her mother's life.

However, Aditya's girlfriend Malini's father turns out being Imlie's real father as well, which makes Malini and Imlie step-sisters.
