Mera Sasural

Barely four months after it was launched, Sacchitanand production’s first soap <em> Mera Sasural</em> is coming to an end. Confirming the news, writer and producer Anjana Sood says, “The decision to pull off the show was taken yesterday. The lead actress Urmila Kanetkar couldn’t give us enough dates thus we were left with no option but to call off the show.” But couldn’t they find Urmila’s replacement? Anjana replies, “Finding a replacement would have called for promotional expenses. Besides, I feel the time slot (7.30 pm) also didn’t work in our favour.”

First she stepped out of<em> Maayka</em> and entered<em> Mera Sasural</em>. Well, it seems that Urmila Kanetkar hasn’t found comfort in her <em> sasural </em> too. As per sources, the Maharashtrian girl has decided to quit the Sahara One show “Urmila has decided to quit <em> Mera Sasural</em>. There’s no word on her replacement yet. Till that takes place, the focus will be shifted to Goldie’s (Pooja Joshi) track,” says a source.

Ajana Sood’s <em> Mera Sasural </em> on Sahara One will have a fresh new face. Karuna Pandey who has done an item song for the international film, Maple Heart will now be playing a key role in the serial. The actress who is very excited about her TV debut elaborates, “My character is very similar to Zeba’s character in the film <em> Heena</em>. My character is called Amrut who is basically Indian but after the partition she has been staying in Pakistan.”

Sahara One’s <em> Mera Sasural</em> is barely a few weeks old and there’s already a small twist in the tale. Darshan Dave, who plays Omi Khajuria, finds himself cornered earlier than expected.

Dailies are raining in thick and fast across most Hindi GECs. Sahara One too now chips in with another family drama called <em> Mera Sasural</em> to fill its vacant 7.30 pm slot. This soap will air from Monday to Friday from 10 March. <em> Mera Sasural </em> is the saga of two young girls Heer (Urmila Kanetkar) and Goldie (Pooja Joshi) in their respective sasurals. The show brings alive the struggles of a woman in her attempt to strike a balance between the world that she is born into and the one that she enters into the moment she is married.
